Student Voice
Student Leadership at Alice Smith Elementary
At Alice Smith Elementary, we believe that leadership begins with our students. We intentionally create opportunities for students to develop confidence, responsibility, and a voice in their school community. Through a variety of leadership roles and initiatives, our students learn what it means to be respectful, responsive, and ready to learn—both inside and outside the classroom.
Our student leadership opportunities include:
-
Student Leadership Team – A group of 3rd–5th grade students who meet regularly to plan school spirit events, lead service projects, and share student perspectives with school staff.
-
Whinny’s Ambassadors – Students who model positive behavior and help promote our school-wide PBIS expectations. They assist with Whinny’s Store, recognize peers for acts of kindness, and help create a welcoming school environment.
-
STEAM Leaders – Student helpers in our STEAM lab who assist peers, demonstrate equipment use, and lead by example in problem-solving and creativity.
-
Classroom Jobs & Peer Mentors – All students have the opportunity to take on meaningful roles in the classroom and across campus to build responsibility, teamwork, and pride in their school.
Through these leadership experiences, students learn to advocate for themselves and others, make responsible decisions, and contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture. At Alice Smith, we grow leaders who are ready to make a difference—now and in the future.
